A Secret Childhood
It is in the beauty of Normandy's verdant groves, this region of France that cradles his entire childhood, that Olivier discovers the loving magic of nature, the perfumes, the scents of earth, the hidden streams, and it is the only breath that sustains him and vivifies him in this world of adults in which he seeks himself.
Already living between two worlds, he often aspires to interiorize himself, to isolate himself for long hours. He observes that he can be filled with joy, then suddenly feel himself invaded by an infinite, inexplicable sadness and melancholy. It is then that he flees, hiding in the bushes to meditate, barely five or six years old. No one can imagine the intensity of the inner life that already inhabits him. He practises naturally, instinctively, exercises of communion with nature, taking refuge in another space-time that soothes and comforts him.
"Already as a very young child, I had perceived, I 'knew' that as soon as a man approaches the forest, a transformation occurs inside him, in his subtle bodies, a rebalancing, a resetting to level. Without nature, man is nothing, he even loses his nature and receives another, false, artificial one. By going toward nature again, man can find his own nature again, understand himself, pull himself together and look at the world with a piercing gaze that reveals the secrets hidden beyond deceptive appearances. Nature is alive and intelligent."
By good fortune, his paternal grandfather is a peasant, a farmer, a man of earth. He possesses a vegetable garden, animals, a world filled with life and attractions for this little boy who thirsts to discover, to understand. This grandfather will initiate him into innumerable secrets, teach him the names of birds, plants, mushrooms, arousing in him an immense admiration. Olivier appreciates the tranquil and discreet side of this wise man, his great goodness, as well as the affection of his grandmothers.
"When I was little, my first contact with God happened through my grandmothers. They prepared meals, they caressed me, took care of me... This had an enormous creative influence on me and transmitted nourishing forces to me."
In the meadows and among the wildflowers, in the heart of the Mother Earth, distant memories call him to find again the mysteries hidden in his deepest depths. It is with regret, at six years old, that he must leave the great family house to go and settle in Hérouville-Saint-Clair. He finds himself then in an urban environment.
Olivier is a gentle, peaceful, endearing child. His father, passionate about martial arts, transmits to him the sense of uprightness, self-transcendence, nobility of soul. His mother is a schoolteacher, and she supports him from his youngest age on this uncommon path that is his. She observes his surprising aptitude to spread, by his presence alone, harmony and well-being around him. Gifted with strong intuition, she decides to let him follow his course, despite her desire to see him succeed in his schooling. Olivier manifests no interest in schoolwork and homework, but very young, he already distinguishes himself by his reasoning and his astonishing readings for his age.
"The first text that awakened me was a text written in large characters in a small Christian book. It was doubtless a book for children. I was about eight years old and I read the parable of the rich man who comes to Jesus. And Jesus tells him: 'Sell all that you have and follow me.' I was intensely struck by this parable because I knew it was true, that there were on earth Sons of God, superior beings. I felt intuitively, instantaneously that Jesus was an eternal principle, that in life one could meet such a being and that he was a master representing the door to enter a superior world. I perceived that he was unique, surrounded by several disciples, and that together, they formed only one single being. Of course, at that moment, I did not put these words, this understanding, because I was only a child, but it was a revelatory moment in my life."
Olivier Martin, by his birth name, spends his entire childhood without ever truly being able to share his aspiration and his mystical impulses. After a tormented adolescence, his quest and his personal research will lead him to find again the door of the kingdom of the great masters and his belonging to a divine and eternal tradition, the tradition of the Essenes.
